So nice to see you visiting Blue Balloon Atelier. Remember you can always leave a comment, so I know you are here π.
My name is Kasia Ancuta and I am the designer and the maker behind all Blue Ballon Atelier creations.
The idea of this project was in my head for... hmm...for ever, I think.
Since I remember [or rather since everyone tells me, because I can't even remember that] I always had contact with knitting needles, crochet hook and plenty of yarns. My granny used to do it all and I used to spend a lot of time with her, copying everything she did. In the afternoon she used to sit down on the couch to knit pillowcases from all those recycled yarns she could find and I was sitting on her feet tangling yarns around knitting needles. That was back in 70s in Poland. Back then, in the communist Poland, we did not have much so we all needed skills to create the illusion of heaving everything π. That's why I also learnt how to knit, crochet, embroidery, macramΓ©, sew... you name it. It was just fun learning everything and creating all those garments for dolls and, later on, for myself and others.
I have also finished 5 years of an Artistic Weaving Collage (with a diploma as a weaver π) and that was followed by 5 years of Fine Art University (Teacher of fine art profile).
But those creative skills were never considered to be a job. Hobby - yes, but not something which could or should earn you money.
That's why, for years, I was busy doing something else [an artist in the film industry. A compositor, putting all together and finishing films, to be precise.] and knitting, crochet or sewing was always just a hobby for the weekend to unwind or to make something individual. But somewhere, at the back of my head, I knew I needed to try something new. I was designing things on my way to work for some time now. And then Covid happened, and I, like many others, lost a job.
Instead of crying over that, I decided, that this was the right moment to start crafting and shearing my ideas with the rest of the world. And no, I am no a brave person. I am scared of everything, but, if not now, then when? Thats why I have started this blog and Instagram, where you can find out more about the designs.
So here I am, sharing my ideas with you. I hope you like them as much as I do.
Happy creating!
Kasia ππ
